A 48" Southbend countertop hotplate with 8 non-clog burners, for extra burner capacity on the line.
The Southbend HDO-48 is a 48" countertop hotplate with 8 open burners for restaurants that need extra burners next to a griddle or charbroiler and for catering kitchens. Each cast iron non-clogging burner is rated 33,000 BTU on natural gas (24,000 on propane), for 264,000 BTU in total, and has its own Hi/Low valve. It needs one 3/4" gas line and no electricity: a standing pilot serves each burner.

Non-clog burners
Cast iron non-clogging burners, 33,000 BTU each on natural gas, with at least 12" between burner centers.
Hi/Low control
Every burner has its own Hi/Low valve for independent control of the flame.
Flush cast grates
12" cast flush top grates slide pans across the top, and a one-piece full-width crumb tray pulls out for cleaning.
Counter or stand
Runs on 4" legs on a counter; Southbend offers a stainless stand, casters, a wok ring and an insulator base for refrigerated bases.

Built by Southbend in Fuquay-Varina, NC, CSA design certified and NSF, with a 1-year parts and labor warranty.
Delivery and setup
- Ships by freight carrier. See our shipping policy for delivery details, and call us for the current lead time.
- Tell us natural gas or propane when you order; the gas type is set at the factory and shown on the serial plate.
- Screw the 4 legs into the bottom corners and level the unit before connecting gas.
- The pressure regulator ships with the hotplate; your gas installer fits it at the 3/4" inlet and vents it to code.
- Inspect the shipment before signing for it and note any damage on the bill. Report concealed damage to the carrier within 15 days.
Questions buyers ask
Natural gas or propane?
Either. Each burner is rated 33,000 BTU on natural gas or 24,000 BTU on propane, so the total is 264,000 or 192,000 BTU. The gas type is set at the factory; tell us yours when ordering.
Does it need electricity?
No. A standing pilot lights each burner. Battery spark ignition is an option at additional cost.
What gas hookup does it need?
One 3/4" NPT connection at the rear with the included regulator. Minimum supply pressure is 7" W.C. for natural gas and 11" W.C. for propane; a flexible hose must be no smaller than the connector and meet ANSI Z21.69.
How close can it go to a wall?
Keep 10" at the sides and 7" at the rear from combustible construction; next to noncombustible construction the clearance is 0". Install it under a vented hood.
Can I use a wok on it?
Southbend offers a high-performance wok ring for the HDO at additional cost. Call us to add one.
What does the warranty cover?
Southbend covers defects in parts and labor for 1 year from purchase, up to 18 months from the factory sale, serviced by a Southbend Authorized Service Agency. Spark igniters and similar wear parts are limited to 90 days, and damage from improper installation or misuse is not covered.
