Questions buyers ask
What can it cook?
Rational lists boil (85°F to boiling), pan-fry (85-480°F) and deep-fry (85-355°F) modes plus intelligent cooking paths and low-temperature cooking, and this model adds pressure cooking.
How does the pressure cooking work?
The lid locks with an interior mechanism, the pan builds and holds pressure (max. 4.4 PSI) and releases it automatically at the end so the lid can open safely. Rational says this cuts cooking time by up to 35% on stews, braised dishes, stocks and soups.
What electrical service does it need?
3-phase 440/480V. Rational lists 33 A running with a 45 A breaker and 8 AWG cable at 440V (25 kW); 35 A running with a 45 A breaker and 8 AWG cable at 480V (29 kW), for cable runs up to 78 3/4". Have a licensed electrician connect it per NEC and local code.
Does it need a floor drain?
Yes. Rational requires a rear indirect floor drain with an air gap. The pan drains through its own 2" drain, so no front floor trough is needed.
Does it come on legs?
Rational's standard US setup is a base with 5 7/8" adjustable plastic feet. Stainless steel feet, casters, electric height adjustment and wall mounting are setup options; casters cannot be combined with pressure cooking.
Are baskets and lift arms included?
No. Rational sells the lift arm, boiling and frying baskets, strainer and pan base racks separately, or together as accessory package 87.00.743 for the L.
What warranty does it have?
New RATIONAL units carry a 2-year RATIONAL manufacturer warranty from the installation date, including parts, labor, and travel. Terms apply: Rational requires access to the unit's device data, and ConnectedCooking registration is recommended. See Rational's warranty statement.
Do you match lower prices?
Yes. Rational products are covered by our Best Price Guarantee. Use the "Request price match" link near the price.
