Summit SINCH230V2B 12" Wide 2-Zone Built-In Induction Cooktop with 30-Minute Safety Shutoff, Black Glass, 208-240V
Description
A 12-inch built-in induction cooktop with a 30-minute automatic shutoff, built for guest rooms and suites where nobody should leave a burner on.
The Summit SINCH230V2B is part of Summit's Safety First cooktop series for hotel rooms, extended stay suites and independent living. It has two induction zones under jet black ceramic glass: rear 8-1/4" zone at 2,000 W (2,600 W on boost) and front 6-1/4" zone at 1,500 W (2,000 W on boost). It runs on 208-240V and must be hardwired by a professional; no cord is included. It drops into a 10-5/8" W x 19-5/8" D counter cutout.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- 11-3/8" W x 20-1/2" D x 1-7/8" H; 14 lb. cooktop
- Counter cutout
- 10-5/8" W x 19-5/8" D; counter at least 1.2" thick with 2" clear around the cutout
- Power
- 208-240V, 60 Hz, 15 A; hardwired by an electrician, no cord or plug included
- Above the cooktop
- At least 30" to a cabinet above
- Cookware
- Magnetic pans: cast iron, steel or magnetic stainless steel
The glass is 11-3/8" wide but the cutout is 10-5/8" wide: measure the counter opening, not the old cooktop.
Heat in the pan
Induction makes heat inside the cookware. Summit says about 85% of the heat goes into the pan contents, and most of the glass stays cooler, so spills bake on less.
Two induction zones
Rear 8-1/4" zone at 2,000 W (2,600 W on boost). Front 6-1/4" zone at 1,500 W (2,000 W on boost). Boost runs a zone at the higher setting for up to 5 minutes, for example to boil water faster.
30-minute shutoff
Each zone turns off after 30 minutes with no user activity. If the cooktop is switched on but no power level is chosen within one minute, it shuts off again.
Guest-proof controls
Child lock blocks unintended changes, overflow protection cuts power if liquid or a wet cloth hits the controls, and a residual heat light stays on until the glass cools.
Front controls
Controls sit up front, so nobody reaches over a hot pan. Summit lists the design as ADA compliant.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the carton for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- A qualified electrician must hardwire it to an individual grounded 208-240V circuit protected by a circuit breaker (Summit rates it 15 A). No cord or plug is included.
- Cut the counter to 10-5/8" W x 19-5/8" D. Summit's manual asks for a counter at least 1.2" thick, 2" clear around the cutout and at least 30" to a cabinet above.
- Attach the supplied foam gasket under the glass edge before setting the cooktop in, then secure it with the included mounting clips and screws.
- Summit's manual advises anyone with a pacemaker or other electrical implant to check with their doctor before using an induction cooktop.
Questions buyers ask
What pans can I use?
Magnetic pans only: cast iron, steel or magnetic stainless steel. Aluminum, copper and non-magnetic stainless steel will not heat. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan, it works.
What power does it need?
208-240V, 60 Hz, 15 A, hardwired by a professional to an individual grounded circuit with a breaker. No cord or plug is included.
What size cutout does it need?
10-5/8" W x 19-5/8" D. The glass top is 11-3/8" W x 20-1/2" D and stands 1-7/8" tall. Mounting clips and screws come with it.
How does the 30-minute shutoff work?
Each zone turns off after half an hour with no user activity, so a forgotten pan does not keep heating. It also shuts down if it is switched on but nothing is selected within one minute.
Is it ENERGY STAR certified?
Yes. Summit lists the SINCH230V2B as ENERGY STAR certified.
What warranty does it have?
Summit gives all Safety First cooktops a 3-year limited warranty on parts and labor.
