Description
A 8' x 16' walk-in cooler with remote refrigeration, so the noise and heat stay outside the room.
The Norlake FTOB77816-X is a Fast-Trak outdoor walk-in cooler for restaurants, delis, caterers and grocery back rooms. It measures 96" x 192" x 91" outside (8' x 16' x 7'7") and ships with a matched Split-Pak remote system: a 1/2 HP hermetic condensing unit you place away from the box and a low-profile evaporator coil inside.

- Outside size
- 96" W × 192" D × 91" H (8' × 16' × 7'7")
- Evaporator coil
- 44" L × 16" W × 17" H, mounts inside the box
- Condensing unit
- Installed remotely outdoors with a weather kit; plan a spot with free airflow and service access
- Door opening
- 26" W × 78" H standard (30" or 36" at no charge), self-closing, left or right hinge, placed anywhere along a wall
- Inside floor
- About 88" × 184" (outside size minus two 4" walls each way)
- Power
- Condensing unit: 208-230V / 60 Hz / 1-phase, MCA 18.8 A, MOP 20 A. Evaporator: 115V. Door section: 120V, field-wired to a junction box.
- Shipping weight
- 2,049 lb, delivered as panels on pallets plus the refrigeration system
The box arrives as flat panels, so it does not have to pass through a doorway in one piece. Have a refrigeration contractor plan the line set route before delivery.
Full 4" insulated panels
Every wall, ceiling and door panel is 4" of foamed-in-place polyurethane rated R-25 for coolers. Foamed-in cam-lock fasteners and continuous perimeter gaskets pull the panels tight.
Coated steel inside and out
26 gauge corrosion-resistant, stucco-embossed coated steel covers every surface except the floor, so the box wipes down easily.
Aluminum floor included
The smooth aluminum floor carries up to 800 lb per sq. ft. of evenly spread load. If you'll roll loaded carts inside, ask about Norlake's heavy-duty floor option.
Secure self-closing door
The door has a deadbolt handle that takes a key or padlock, an inside safety release, two cam-lift hinges, a spring closer, a magnetic gasket, a double floor sweep and a heated threshold.
Temperature at a glance
A digital thermometer and light switch with an exterior pilot light is built into the door frame. A high-output LED light above the door stays clear of shelving.
Matched Split-Pak system
The 1/2 HP hermetic condensing unit is factory pre-wired and pre-assembled. The evaporator coil comes with a pre-installed expansion valve and a mounted, wired room thermostat; cooler coils use air (off-cycle) defrost.
Delivery and setup
- Ships by freight as palletized panel crates plus the refrigeration system.
- Tailgate delivery drops at your site's entrance; it does not include inside delivery or unpacking.
- Inspect the crates and check panels against the packing list before you sign for the delivery.
- Panels lock together with cam-locks turned by the supplied hex wrench. Start on a level floor.
- A refrigeration contractor sets the condensing unit, runs and charges the line set and wires the system; Norlake's installation checklist is written for that contractor. An electrician connects the door section.
- See our shipping policy for delivery details.
Questions buyers ask
How much room is inside?
The walls are 4" thick, so the inside floor is about 88" x 184" (96" and 192" outside, minus two 4" walls each way).
Where does the refrigeration go?
Inside, a low-profile E1MD0085A evaporator coil mounts in the box. The 1/2 HP condensing unit (MHMD005AB) is installed remotely outdoors and ships with a weather kit (hood, base and low-ambient kit).
What power does it need?
The condensing unit runs on 208-230V, 60 Hz, single phase (Norlake lists MCA 18.8 A, MOP 20 A). The evaporator coil is 115V. The door section is wired to its own 120V junction box. Have an electrician size the circuits.
Who installs the refrigeration?
A refrigeration contractor sets the condensing unit and evaporator, runs and charges the line set and completes Norlake's installation checklist.
Can I choose where the door goes?
Yes. Each Fast-Trak ships with two 2-foot filler panels, so the installer can place the door anywhere along a wall. Choose a left or right hinge and a 26", 30" or 36" door in the options above when you order. If you add an interior ramp, the door location must be set at order time.
What is different about the outdoor model?
It is built for outdoor installation, and the remote condensing unit ships with a weather kit. Norlake also offers an outdoor membrane roof system and door rain hood; ask us what your order includes and check local code.
What does the warranty cover?
Norlake's warranty covers the panels for 15 years (replacement panels; labor and panel finish are not covered) and parts and labor for 18 months, done by an authorized service provider. A 5-year compressor warranty is available as an option. Claims must reach Norlake within 30 days of a defect.
What options can I add?
In the options above you can choose a 26", 30" or 36" door at no extra charge and add 30" high exterior and interior kickplates in stainless steel or aluminum diamond tread, plus Norlake's optional 5-year compressor warranty (compressor only; labor and mileage not included).
