A 12" gravity feed slicer that runs automatically or by hand for deli meats and cheese.
The Berkel B12A-SLC pairs a 12" hollow ground, chromium-plated carbon steel knife with a 1/2 HP motor and a 45° product table that feeds by gravity. A single-speed automatic carriage takes over repetitive slicing, or you can run it by hand. The permanent, tapered ring guard covers the non-slicing edge even with the center plate removed, and the slicer comes apart without tools for cleaning. It plugs into a standard 115V grounded outlet with a 5-15P plug.
Set it on a solid, level support in a well-lit work area with room for the product table to travel.
Nominal 12" (300 mm) hollow ground, hardened and polished forged chromium-plated carbon steel knife, turning at 380 rpm.
The full 45° table needs less pressure to feed and uses a removable anodized aluminum pusher to hold product and cut waste.
Infinite thickness adjustment from tissue thin to 9/16" (14 mm) for hard or soft foods.
A two-stone sharpener mounts on top for a lasting, razor-sharp edge.
Removable carriage arm, permanent tapered ring guard with extra room behind the knife, and tool-free disassembly. Finish is stainless steel and sanitary anodized aluminum.
Single-speed automatic carriage for hands-free slicing, plus a gauge plate/carriage interlock and no-volt release.
A grounded 115/120V outlet. The slicer runs on 115V, 60 Hz, single phase, 4.0 A and has an attached 6 ft. cord with a NEMA 5-15P plug.
The carriage handles food up to 10-3/4" W x 7-5/8" H or 7-3/8" Round.
From tissue thin to 9/16" (14 mm), set with the thickness control knob.
Move the lever to the automatic position at 9 o'clock, switch on the blade power, then switch on the automatic power. The carriage then runs at a single speed. A gauge plate/carriage interlock adds safety during cleaning.
Unplug it, close the gauge plate, then remove the meat pusher, product table, center plate, slice deflector and sharpener without tools. Wash with hot water and a mild detergent, rinse, sanitize and air dry. Berkel advises cleaning at least once a day and not using water jets.
Berkel recommends sharpening at least daily, always on a clean knife, using the built-in two-stone sharpener: 5 to 10 seconds on the sharpening stone, then 2 to 3 seconds on the deburring stone.
Berkel covers parts, labor and travel for one year, excluding wear items such as knives, blades and sharpening stones. Repairs go through Hobart Service or a Designated Berkel Service Location.
