Hatco C-7-240-3-QS Compact Electric Booster Water Heater, 7 kW, 6 Gal., 240V 3-Ph, Quick-Ship Model
Description
Raises incoming hot water to the 180°F final rinse a high-temp dishmachine needs, from a 6-gallon tank compact enough to sit beside the dishwasher or under the dishtable.
The Hatco C-7-240-3-QS is a 7 kW Compact electric booster water heater. It stores 6 gallons in a Castone-lined tank and recovers 70 gallons per hour at a 40°F temperature rise, or 40 gallons per hour at a 70°F rise. The space-saving Compact cabinet sets up beside the dishwasher on its 6" legs, or under a dishtable on accessory slide brackets. This listing is the Hatco Quick-Ship model, item C724013LE, for 240V power. Hatco wires it three phase open delta, so it runs on 240V three phase as delivered and can also be field converted to single phase.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- 13.06" W x 20.69" D x 19.78" H on the standard 6" legs (13.78" H without legs); depth is 26" with the temperature/pressure relief valve
- Power
- 240V 3-phase, 25.2 A; 40 A breaker; 8 AWG copper wire per Hatco. Field convertible to 240V 1-phase: 29.2 A, 40 A breaker. Hard wired: the electrician supplies the breaker or fused disconnect
- Water
- 3/4" NPT inlet and outlet; incoming water over 3.0 grains per gallon hardness must be softened
- Location
- Indoors, 70°F room or warmer, as close to the dishmachine as possible; recirculate if the run is over 5 ft. (NSF)
- Clearance
- Front access to the controls; Hatco recommends at least 2" at the sides
- Mounting
- Standard 6" legs, or under a dishtable on accessory slide brackets (the dishtable must carry the full heater)
Have the electrician confirm the circuit before the heater arrives: Hatco electric boosters are hard wired with no cord or plug.
70 GPH recovery
At 7 kW the C-7-240-3-QS heats 70 gallons per hour through a 40°F rise and 40 gallons per hour through a 70°F rise, for a 180°F final rinse.
Castone-lined tank
The 6-gallon tank has a Castone lining and fiberglass insulation to cut heat loss. Hatco backs the tank with a 10-year limited warranty.
Low-water cut-off
A low-water cut-off keeps the elements off when the tank is low, and a high-temperature limit switch adds a second safety.
Swing-away front panels
The front panels swing away with the low-water cut-off, control fuses and transformer, for quick access to probes and elements.
Factory plumbed and wired
It arrives pre-plumbed and pre-wired with an immersion thermostat, temperature/pressure relief valve, pressure reducing valve and two temperature/pressure gauges.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the carton for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Approximate shipping weight is 118 lb.
- Hatco does not recommend FedEx Ground or UPS for Compact boosters.
- Installation must be done by qualified installers to local electrical and plumbing codes. Installation by unqualified personnel voids the Hatco warranty.
- Fill the tank with water before you turn on power: the elements burn out if they run dry.
- Set the pressure reducing valve to 20 psi flow pressure, and do not fit a check valve or anti-siphon valve in the supply line to the booster.
- Pipe the temperature/pressure relief valve discharge to a safe place of disposal, per local code.
Questions buyers ask
Is it big enough for my dishmachine?
Size it by the gallons per hour your dishmachine rinse uses and your incoming water temperature. The C-7-240-3-QS recovers 70 GPH at a 40°F rise (140°F in, 180°F out) and 40 GPH at a 70°F rise (110°F in). If your machine uses more, step up in kW.
What electrical service does it need?
240V 3-phase, 25.2 A, on a 40 A breaker or fused disconnect. Hatco's manual lists 8 AWG copper wire. The unit is hard wired by a licensed electrician.
Can it run on single phase?
Yes, at 208V or 240V. Hatco ships the 6, 7 and 9 kW models wired three phase open delta, and an electrician can convert them to single phase with the wiring diagram supplied. Single phase needs a larger branch circuit: 208V single phase draws 33.7 A; 240V single phase draws 29.2 A.
Does my water need treatment?
Yes, if it is hard. Water over 3.0 grains of hardness per gallon must be treated and softened before it reaches the booster. Failure from liming or sediment is not covered by the warranty.
What warranty does it have?
Hatco covers the booster tank for 1 year parts and labor plus 9 more years parts only. Other parts carry Hatco's standard 18-month limited warranty. Register the unit with Hatco within 90 days of factory shipment to qualify for added coverage.
Can it mount under the dishtable?
Yes. Weld the slide rails under the dishtable, attach Hatco slide brackets to the heater and slide it in. Slide brackets are an accessory; make sure the dishtable can carry the heater full of water.
