Hatco CWBP-4 R-290 Refrigerated Drop-In Cold Well, 4 Full-Size Pans, Top Mount, 120V
Description
A top-mount refrigerated well that keeps 4 full-size pans of pre-chilled food at safe serving temperature on a standard 120V outlet.
The Hatco CWBP-4 is a self-contained R-290 refrigerated drop-in well for 4 full-size 12" x 20" pans. Angled inside walls and copper evaporator coils around the well let cold air blanket the food from top to bottom. The condensing unit hangs under the well, and the control panel mounts on either side of it or up to 4 ft. away.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- 58" W x 27" D x 25.5" H overall; well is 12" deep
- Counter cutout
- 56.125" to 57" wide x 25.19" to 26" deep
- Power
- 120V, 60 Hz, single phase, 440 W, 6.5 A; 6 ft. cord with NEMA 5-15P plug from the control panel
- Outlet
- Grounded receptacle within 6 ft. of the control panel and at least 12" above the cabinet floor
- Drain
- 1" brass drain to a trap and drain line, or a catch pan under the fitting
- Ventilation
- At least 7" around the condensing unit; closed cabinets need 12" x 12" louvered openings and intake ducting
- Room
- Indoors, cabinet air 65°F to 86°F, away from fryers, grills, exhaust hoods and doors
Measure the counter: the cutout sizes above are what the well drops into, and the counter must be level for draining.
R-290 refrigeration
A 1/3 HP compressor uses R-290 propane refrigerant, 4.6 oz. factory fill. Hatco states R-290 absorbs heat 90% better than other refrigerants for faster recovery.
Angled cold wall
The top-angled inside wall gives more coil surface and lets cold air blanket the pans. NSF 7 component cold wall construction keeps food cold without drying it out.
Digital control
An electronic controller with a power switch is factory set to 39°F. Auto-defrost can be programmed on site, from off to a set number of hours between cycles.
Flexible mounting
The control panel mounts on either side of the condensing unit or up to 4 ft. away. Condensing unit sits under the left side as standard; center-aligned is a no-charge factory option.
Insulated, easy to clean
Sides and bottom are insulated with environmentally friendly insulation. A 1" brass drain lets you rinse the well at closing.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the crate for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- Approximate shipping weight is 211 lb. The well arrives in a shipping frame; keep it upright and in the frame until the counter cutout is ready.
- Hatco ships the installation kit (intake bracket, duct clamp, flexible duct, 90° elbow and duct collar) separately.
- If it arrives in cold weather, let it sit at room temperature for 10 hours before switching it on.
- Installation must be done by qualified installers to local electrical and plumbing codes. The condensing unit must be isolated from other electrical devices, and R-290 service needs a technician trained on flammable refrigerant.
- Seal the bezel to the counter with NSF-approved silicone, or order the factory-installed gasket. Run it empty with pans for about 60 minutes before loading pre-chilled food.
Questions buyers ask
What size counter cutout does it need?
Cut 56.125" to 57" wide and 25.19" to 26" deep. The counter must be level so the well drains, and strong enough for the unit and its contents.
What outlet does it need?
A grounded 120V, 60 Hz outlet for the NEMA 5-15P plug. It draws 6.5 amps and 440 watts. Hatco asks for the receptacle within 6 ft. of the control panel and at least 12" above the cabinet floor.
Can I install it in a closed cabinet?
Yes, with ventilation. Hatco calls for 12" x 12" louvered or grill openings in front of and behind the condensing coils, plus intake ducting; installing without it voids the warranty. Cabinet air should stay between 65°F and 86°F.
Can it cool food down?
No. It holds food that is already chilled to a safe temperature. Hatco sets it to 39°F at the factory and you can adjust the setpoint.
Are pans included?
No. It ships with 20" pan support bars for full-size pans. Pans, 12" support bars, false bottoms and trivets are accessories.
What options are there?
At order time only: a 5° slant kit, a factory-installed gasket, a center-aligned condenser, and an additional 4-year parts-only warranty on the compressor.
What warranty does it have?
Hatco's manual refers to a standard one year warranty, with 24/7 parts and service help in the US and Canada. An additional 4-year parts-only compressor warranty can be bought with the unit.
