Hatco FTBX-1 Remote Drop-In Frost Top, 1-Pan, 28-15/16" W, Less Condenser, 120V Control
Description
A drop-in cold plate for 1 full-size sheet pan, with the refrigeration placed away from the serving line.
The Hatco FTBX-1 is a remote drop-in frost top for a 1-pan serving counter, shipped without a condensing unit. Its NSF 7 approved cold wall keeps pre-chilled food cold without drying it out. A solenoid valve is attached to the frost top, and the control panel ships loose on 9 ft probe wires. It connects to a condensing unit supplied by others, which suits multi-piece counters on one refrigeration system. A qualified installer makes all refrigeration and electrical connections.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- 28-15/16" W x 21-1/16" D x 8-5/8" H overall
- Countertop cutout
- 27-7/16" to 28" W x 19-7/16" to 20-1/8" D
- Pan capacity

Cut the counter to the cutout range, not the outside size: the frost top drops in and its rim rests on the counter.
NSF 7 cold wall
The cold wall construction keeps food product cold without drying it out.
Sheet pan ready
Recessed walls hold 1 full-size 18" x 26" sheet pan or half-size 18" x 13" sheet pans and stop them from sliding.
Auto-defrost control
An advanced electronic controller with auto-defrost is programmed at the customer location.
Use your own system
With no condenser on board, it connects to your own refrigeration. Hatco lists the evaporator load at 330 BTU/hr.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the crate for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Approximate shipping weight is 85 lb.
- The frost top arrives with the solenoid valve attached; the control panel and TXV valve are separate pieces.
- Have the condensing unit, refrigerant lines and a refrigeration contractor lined up before the frost top arrives.
Questions buyers ask
Can it chill warm food?
No. Hatco designs frost tops to keep pre-chilled beverages, snacks, hors d'oeuvres and side dishes cold. Chill food to a safe temperature before you put it out.
What pans does it take?
It holds 1 full-size 18" x 26" sheet pan or half-size 18" x 13" sheet pans. Hatco sells matching full-size (18" SHEET PAN) and half-size (ALUM PAN) sheet pans as accessories.
What size hole do I cut?
Cut the countertop 27-7/16" to 28" W x 19-7/16" to 20-1/8" D. The outside size of the unit is 28-15/16" W x 21-1/16" D x 8-5/8" H.
Does it include a condensing unit?
No. The FTBX ships with the frost top, an attached solenoid valve, the control panel and a TXV valve. Choose the FTBR version if you want Hatco to supply the condenser.
How big a condensing unit do I need?
Hatco lists the evaporator load at 330 BTU/hr. Your refrigeration contractor sizes the condensing unit from that.
What warranty does it have?
Hatco covers it under its limited warranty.
