Hatco PMG-100 Powermite Gas Booster Water Heater, 105,000 BTU, 24.8 kW Output, 4.75 Gal., Natural or LP Gas
Description
A gas-fired booster that heats 241 gallons per hour through a 40°F rise to the 180°F sanitizing rinse, sized to sit near the dishmachine.
The Hatco PMG-100 Powermite gas booster water heater takes 105,000 BTU per hour of gas input and delivers 84,800 BTU per hour, equal to 24.8 kW. Its three tube type burners use primary and secondary air for consistent ignition. It has a finned tube copper heat exchanger and a 4.75-gallon stainless steel tank. Hatco designs it to fit under the dishtable near the dishwasher, cutting the heat loss of a remote heater. Natural gas is standard and propane is optional, so tell us the gas type and your elevation when you order.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- 27.45" W x 20.73" D x 31" H with 6" legs; Hatco's drawing also shows 24.64" on the right side view, and the supplied right angle duct adaptor adds 6" to width or depth
- Gas
- Natural gas standard, propane optional; 3/4" NPT inlet; inlet pressure 5" to 10.5" WC natural, 11" to 13" WC propane
- Venting
- Forced draft with a 4" vent pipe adapter; combustion air enters the bottom and flue gas exits the right side or back at the top. Venting must meet the National Fuel Gas Code and local code
- Power
- 120V, 3.0 A, 360 W for the controls; supply a 120V 15 A circuit
- Water
- 3/4" NPT inlet and outlet; at least 20 psi supply and 85°F minimum incoming water; soften water over 3.0 grains per gallon
- Clearance
- 20" front, 2" sides and back, 1" top, 6" floor on the legs; 8" on the side where the vent is installed
Plan the vent run and gas line with a qualified installer before the heater arrives; installation must follow the National Fuel Gas Code or local codes.
241 GPH at 40°F rise
Recovery is 321 GPH at a 30°F rise, 241 GPH at 40°F, 193 GPH at 50°F, 161 GPH at 60°F and 138 GPH at 70°F.
Stainless steel tank
A stainless steel tank and finned tube copper heat exchanger, with stainless steel front and top and powder-coated sides and back.
Water treatment included
A blended phosphate water treatment system and a shock absorber come standard, along with the pressure reducing valve and two temperature/pressure gauges.
Low-water cut-off
A low-water cut-off, temperature/pressure relief valve and manual reset high limits protect the tank and heat exchanger.
Spark to light pilot
Spark to light ignition with a standing pilot fires three tube type burners. Hatco factory presets the electronic temperature control at 190°F.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the crate for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Approximate dry shipping weight is 193 lb.
- A qualified installer must make the gas, vent, water and electrical connections to the National Fuel Gas Code or local codes.
- Do not set the heater directly on carpet: Hatco calls for a metal or wood panel at least 3" larger than the heater on all sides, strong enough for the heater full of water.
- Install it indoors in a room that stays at 70°F or warmer, as close to the dishmachine as possible. Recirculate if the run is over 5 ft. (NSF).
- If supply water pressure is over 20 psi during flow, the pressure reducing valve must be installed. Pipe the relief valve discharge to an open drain.
- Above 2,000 ft. elevation, capacity drops and orifices may need changing. Note your elevation on the order.
Questions buyers ask
Is it big enough for my dishmachine?
Match the GPH your dishmachine final rinse uses to your temperature rise. The PMG-100 heats 241 GPH from 140°F to 180°F (40°F rise) and 138 GPH from 110°F to 180°F (70°F rise).
What gas does it use?
Natural gas is standard; propane is an option. Natural gas needs 5" to 10.5" WC at the inlet, propane 11" to 13" WC.
Does it need electricity?
Yes. The controls and forced draft run on 120V and use 3.0 amps (360 W). Hatco calls for a 120V, 15 amp supply.
How is it vented?
It uses a forced draft system with a 4" vent pipe adapter, straight or 90°. Check with your local code authority or gas supplier before installing the vent.
Does my water need treatment?
Water over 3.0 grains of hardness per gallon must be softened first. A blended phosphate water treatment system is standard, but failure from liming or sediment is not covered by the warranty.
What warranty does it have?
Hatco covers gas booster tanks for 1 year parts and labor plus 9 more years parts only; other parts carry Hatco's standard 18-month limited warranty. Register within 90 days of factory shipment to qualify for added coverage.
