The Hatco S-45 is a 45 kW Imperial electric booster water heater. It stores 16 gallons in a Castone-lined tank and recovers 452 gallons per hour at a 40°F temperature rise, or 258 gallons per hour at a 70°F rise. Service access is from the front, so it can be installed close to other equipment, and the thermostat can be lowered to a 140°F setting for low-temp dishmachines. Choose 208V 3-phase, 240V 1-phase, 240V 3-phase or 480V 3-phase power when you order.
Have the electrician confirm the voltage, phase and circuit before the heater arrives: Hatco electric boosters are hard wired with no cord or plug.
At 45 kW the S-45 heats 452 gallons per hour through a 40°F rise and 258 gallons per hour through a 70°F rise, for a 180°F final rinse.
The 16-gallon tank has a Castone lining and fiberglass insulation to cut heat loss. Hatco backs the tank with a 10-year limited warranty.
A low-water cut-off keeps the elements off when the tank is low, and a high-temperature limit switch adds a second safety.
Controls and service area open from the front, and a built-in heat trap helps hold heat in the tank.
It arrives pre-plumbed and pre-wired with an immersion thermostat, temperature/pressure relief valve, pressure reducing valve and two temperature/pressure gauges.
Size it by the gallons per hour your dishmachine rinse uses and your incoming water temperature. The S-45 recovers 452 GPH at a 40°F rise (140°F in, 180°F out) and 258 GPH at a 70°F rise (110°F in). If your machine uses more, step up in kW.
Pick the voltage and phase you have on site: 208V 3-phase draws 125 A on a 175 A breaker; 240V 1-phase draws 188 A on a 250 A breaker; 240V 3-phase draws 108 A on a 150 A breaker; 480V 3-phase draws 54 A on a 70 A breaker. It is hard wired by a licensed electrician.
No. Only Hatco's 6, 7 and 9 kW models can be field converted, so order the voltage and phase you have. Hatco notes single phase is uncommon at 24 kW and larger, needs written confirmation before production, and is not returnable.
Yes, if it is hard. Water over 3.0 grains of hardness per gallon must be treated and softened before it reaches the booster. Failure from liming or sediment is not covered by the warranty.
