An electric salamander that heats only when a plate is under it, to finish, melt, grill and hold.
The Hatco SAL-1 Electric Salamander cooks, grills, reheats and holds food under three independently controlled Instant-On infrared ribbon elements. When a plate or pan touches the plate detection bar, the elements turn on, and they turn off when it is removed, so there is no residual heat in the kitchen. The upper housing moves 4-1/2" up and down, and the HOLD function has eight programmable heat levels. This listing is the 240V version, 4500 watts, with a NEMA 6-30P plug.
Do not mount it above a grill, fryer or range: Hatco says heat over 110°F, moisture or grease-laden air can cause malfunction and void the warranty.
A detection bar on the back wall turns the elements on only when a plate or pan is pushed against it, and off when it is removed.
Three independently controlled high-powered infrared ribbon elements are ready in about eight seconds, per Hatco.
