Maxx Ice MIM452-B580 30" Modular Full Dice Ice Machine with 580 lb Bin, 460 lb/Day, Air-Cooled, 115V
Description
A 30-inch air-cooled ice machine head and matching 580 lb bin that makes up to 460 lb of full dice cubes a day.
The Maxx Ice MIM452-B580 pairs the MIM452 modular ice machine with the MIB580 ice storage bin. Maxx Ice rates the head at 460 lb of full dice ice per 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water, and 368 lb at 90°F air and 70°F water. The MIB580 holds up to 580 lb of ice (464 lb AHRI storage capacity) behind a lift-up door, with the scoop and holder above the ice line. The head runs on 115V single phase and must be hard-wired. It suits restaurants, bars, hotels and other high-volume ice users.
Will it fit · Will it hook up
- Outside size
- Head 30" W x 24" D x 21" H on a MIB580 bin 30" W x 34" D x 50" H with 6" legs; about 71" tall stacked
- Clearances
- Keep the front clear. The manual asks for at least 6" at the rear and 1" on top and sides; the spec sheet recommends 2" from the wall
- Power
- 115V, 60 Hz, 1-phase, hard-wired installation required; making/harvest draw 12.4 A / 15.3 A; manual calls for a 20 A fuse or breaker on its own circuit
- Water
- 3/8" FPT inlet, 15 to 80 psi; above 80 psi needs a regulator; water 41°F to 90°F; filter recommended
- Drain
- Gravity drain lines needed for both pieces: 1/2" FPT on the head, 3/4" on the bin
- Room
- Ambient 50°F to 100°F; indoors, away from ovens, grills and other heat sources
Measure the ceiling and doorways: the stacked unit is about 71" tall and the bin is 34" deep.
460 lb a day
Rated 460 lb per 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water, and 368 lb at 90°F air and 70°F water, in full dice cubes.
580 lb storage bin
The MIB580 holds up to 580 lb, 464 lb AHRI capacity. A polyethylene liner and foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation keep ice clean and slow melting.
Automatic cleaning
Automatic cleaning cycle and bin overflow prevention. A vertical evaporator makes the ice and harvests it into the bin.
All stainless exterior
Both the MIM452 head and the MIB580 bin have stainless steel exteriors that are easy to wipe down.
Stackable head
The air-cooled head can be stacked for more ice production with an optional adapter.
Efficiency
7.1 kWh and 16 gallons of water per 100 lb of ice, as Maxx Ice lists it. Meets ENERGY STAR guidelines per the Maxx Ice sheet.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect both cartons for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- The head and bin are separate units: shipping weights are 148 lb for the MIM452 head and 164 lb for the MIB580 bin. Use two or more people to move and install the head.
- Maxx Ice recommends professional installation. Install the bin legs, set the gasket on the bin, place the head on top and fasten it with the two rear brackets, then level the unit.
- Have an electrician hard-wire the head to a dedicated 115V single-phase circuit; the manual calls for a 20 A fuse or breaker.
- Run a cold water line with a shut-off valve to the 3/8" FPT inlet, and gravity drain lines from the head and the bin to a floor drain. Discard the first batch of ice.
Questions buyers ask
How much ice does it make?
Maxx Ice rates the MIM452 at 460 lb per 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water, and 368 lb at 90°F air and 70°F water. Output varies with room and water temperature.
What kind of ice does it make?
Full dice cubes, 7/8" per the Maxx Ice spec sheet.
What power does it need?
115V, 60 Hz, single phase, hard-wired. Draw is 12.4 A making ice and 15.3 A harvesting. The manual calls for a 20 A fuse or breaker on a dedicated circuit.
Does it need a drain?
Yes. The ice machine and the bin both need gravity drain lines: 1/2" FPT on the head and 3/4" on the bin.
How tall is it when stacked?
The head is 21" tall and the MIB580 is 50" tall on its 6" legs, so the pair stands about 71" tall. Footprint is 30" wide by 34" deep.
What certifications does it have?
The Maxx Ice sheets show ETL NSF 12, cETLus UL 563, CE, DOE 2018 Compliant, Meets ENERGY STAR Guidelines for the ice machine, and ANSI NSF 12 for the MIB580 bin.
