A 62" char rock broiler from Royal's Delux 23 series for flame-grilled flavor on a countertop.
The 6223 is the 62" model in the Delux 23 Series Heavy Duty Char Rock Broiler line: 6 "H" type cast iron burners rated at 30,000 BTU/hr each for 180,000 BTU/hr in total, on a 23 1/8" deep chassis. It suits restaurants, grills and bars. Order it for natural gas or propane; the pressure regulator comes with the unit.

Measure the counter depth and hood coverage first: the unit is 23 1/8" deep and the gas connection comes out at the right rear. The counter, wall and surrounding surfaces must be non-combustible.
Char rock heat
6 "H" type cast iron burners rated at 30,000 BTU/hr each heat long-lasting volcanic char rock, which Royal says reduces flare-ups.
Sloped grates
A rear grate support raises the grates 3" at the back; rod and diamond grates are available as options.
Easy to clean
A removable stainless steel crumb pan and an independent firebox assembly that lifts out and can be replaced.
Built for daily heat
Fully welded frame, 1,200°F mineral wool insulation, stainless steel sides and front valve cover, double wall side panels, all welded 14 gauge fire box.

- Choose natural gas or LP when you order. If your kitchen is above 2,000 feet, tell us the elevation so Royal can set the unit up for it.
- A qualified gas installer must connect the supplied regulator and a manual shut-off valve ahead of the unit, following local codes.
- Inspect the shipment before signing and note any visible damage on the freight bill.
Questions buyers ask
Does it run on natural gas or propane?
Either. Pick Natural Gas or Liquid Propane (LP) before adding it to the cart; Royal builds it for the gas you specify. Tell us your elevation if you are above 2,000 feet.
How many BTU is it?
180,000 BTU/hr total: 6 "H" type cast iron burners rated at 30,000 BTU/hr each (6 x 30,000 = 180,000).
What gas connection does it need?
Royal's sheet lists a 3/4" NPT connection at the right rear, but its drawing shows a 3/4" pipe on this model. Manifold pressure is 5" W.C. for natural gas and 10" W.C. for propane, and the regulator ships with the unit. Confirm the pipe size with us before your installer runs the line.
Can it go next to a wood or drywall wall?
No. Royal's spec sheet says it is for installation in non-combustible locations only, with 0" clearance to non-combustible walls. Combustible-wall installation is not listed.
Does it need an electrical outlet?
No electrical connection is listed. It runs on gas with manual valves.
What options are available?
3/8" round steel or stainless steel rod grate; 3/8" square steel or stainless steel rod grate; cast iron criss-cross (diamond) grate. Royal also makes matching stainless steel equipment stands with optional 5" swivel casters. Call us to add any of these.
What does the warranty cover?
Royal's limited warranty is 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor from installation (up to 30 months from manufacture); cast iron parts are covered for 90 days. The spec sheet also lists a "fully welded frame with lifetime warranty"; Royal's warranty page does not detail that term, so ask us to confirm it with Royal.
How do I clean it?
Daily, clean the grates with warm water, a mild cleaner and a wire brush, brush debris from around the burners, and empty the crumb pan. Wipe stainless steel with hot soapy water; don't use steel wool or abrasive powders.
