Description
One 30,000 BTU open burner on a 12" wide, 16" deep chassis, for adding a pot or sauté burner where the line has no room for a range.
The RHP-12-1 is the smallest hot plate in Royal's RHP series: a single cast iron burner under a 12" x 12" cast iron grate, on a 12" wide by 16" deep body. It suits restaurants, delis and catering kitchens that need one extra burner on a counter or equipment stand. Order it for natural gas or propane; the pressure regulator comes with the unit.

30,000 BTU burner
A cast iron burner with a removable, non-clog lift-off head and flat top design, lit by a protected standing pilot.
Heavy cast iron grate
A 12" x 12" cast iron top grate with Royal's bowl design holds stock pots, sauté pans and woks.
Low-profile chassis
The compact heavy gauge body measures 11" high overall on Royal's drawing, including the 4" adjustable heavy duty legs, so it levels easily on a counter or stand.
Easy to clean
A full-width removable stainless steel crumb pan slides out, and the stainless sides, valve cover and front ledge wipe clean.
Delivery and setup
- Ships by freight carrier; the shipping cost depends on your location. See our shipping policy for details.
- Call (201) 467-8222 for the current lead time before you schedule installation.
- Choose natural gas or LP when you order. If your kitchen is above 2,000 feet, tell us the elevation so Royal can set the unit up for it.
- A qualified gas installer must connect the supplied regulator and a manual shut-off valve ahead of the unit, following local codes.
- Inspect the shipment before signing and note any visible damage on the freight bill.
Questions buyers ask
Does it run on natural gas or propane?
Either. Pick Natural Gas or Liquid Propane (LP) before adding it to the cart; Royal builds it for the gas you specify. Tell us your elevation if you are above 2,000 feet.
What gas connection does it need?
A 3/4" NPT connection at the right rear of the unit. Pressure is 5" W.C. for natural gas and 10" W.C. for propane, and the regulator ships with the unit for your installer to connect.
How much clearance does it need from the wall?
None from non-combustible walls. For combustible walls Royal's spec sheet lists 4" rear and 15" sides, while the owner's manual lists 6" rear and 4" sides for R(D)HP hot plates, so plan for 6" at the rear and 15" at the sides.
Can I use a wok on it?
The standard grate is a 12" x 12" cast iron grate. Royal offers a wok burner with a 10" diameter stainless steel ring as an option; call us to order it that way.
Does it need an electrical outlet?
No electrical connection is listed. It lights with a standing pilot and runs on a manual valve.
Is there a matching stand?
Royal makes stainless steel equipment stands in 12" to 72" widths, knock-down or all-welded, with optional 5" swivel casters. The stand is sold separately.
What does the warranty cover?
Royal's limited warranty is 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor from installation (up to 30 months from manufacture). Cast iron parts, such as grates and burner heads, are covered for 90 days. Labor is covered when an authorized Royal service agency does the work.
How do I clean it?
Daily, clean the grate with warm water, a mild cleaner and a wire brush, brush debris from around the burner and empty the crumb pan. Now and then remove the burner, clean it with a wire brush and check that the ports are open.
