Questions buyers ask
Does it run on natural gas or propane?
Either. Pick Natural Gas or Liquid Propane (LP) before adding it to the cart; Royal builds it for the gas you specify. Tell us your elevation if you are above 2,000 feet.
How many BTU is it?
140,000 BTU/hr total: 4 infrared burners rated at 35,000 BTU/hr each (4 x 35,000 = 140,000).
What gas connection does it need?
A 3/4" NPT connection at the right rear of the unit. Manifold pressure is 5" W.C. for natural gas and 10" W.C. for propane, and the regulator ships with the unit for your installer to connect.
How much clearance does it need from the wall?
The spec sheet lists 4" at the rear and 15" at the sides from combustible walls, and 0" from non-combustible walls. Royal's countertop manual lists R(D)IBT infrared broilers for non-combustible locations only, so plan a non-combustible counter and wall.
Does it need an electrical outlet?
No electrical connection is listed. The thermostat, standing pilots and manual valves run on gas.
How does the hood work?
Close the hood and the 150°F - 500°F thermostat holds the cooking temperature; raise it and all burners come on. Royal's sheet cites Food Service Technology Center tests: 53% heavy-load efficiency and 69.5 lbs/hr production capacity.
What does the warranty cover?
Royal's limited warranty is 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor from installation (up to 30 months from manufacture); cast iron parts are covered for 90 days. Labor is covered when an authorized Royal service agency does the work.
How do I clean it?
Daily, clean the grates with warm water, a mild cleaner and a wire brush, brush debris from around the burners, and empty the crumb pan. Wipe stainless steel with hot soapy water; don't use steel wool or abrasive powders.
