Wells BMW-206STDU Bottom-Mount Drop-In Hot Food Well, 12" x 20" Pan, Square Corners, Thermostat, Insulated, Drain, 208/240V
Description
A fully insulated bottom-mount well that holds one 12" x 20" pan of hot food under a flush countertop edge.
The Wells BMW-206STDU is a single-well, square-corner warmer from the BMW206S series that mounts up under the countertop. It holds one standard 12" x 20" pan or fractional insets with a 1/2" NPT drain, with a thermostat in a recessed front panel. Insulation on all four sides and the bottom speeds preheat and recovery. It runs on 208/240V single phase and is hard-wired.

Bottom-mount install
The well mounts up under the counter opening, so the countertop forms a flush, easy-to-wipe edge around the 12" x 20" pan.
Square corners
Square-cornered well holds a full-size 12" x 20" pan or fractional pans with less wasted space at the corners.
Fully insulated
Insulation on all four sides and the bottom gives quicker preheat, faster recovery and lower energy use.
Thermostatic control
A thermostat in a recessed front panel holds the set temperature; a ready light and high limit come standard.
Wet or dry
Run it with water for best results or dry with a 6" deep pan, as Wells' manual describes.
Built-in drain
A 1/2" NPT drain at one end empties the well for daily cleaning without lifting the unit.
Delivery and setup
- Inspect the carton for damage before you sign, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- Have a licensed electrician hard-wire the unit to a circuit that matches the nameplate voltage and phase; Wells notes that installation must meet local electrical and plumbing codes.
- Follow the installation instructions shipped with the warmer for the cutout and UL conditions. Plan for bottom access after installation for service.
- Have a plumber connect the 1/2" NPT drain to a suitable drain line; some jurisdictions require an air gap.
Questions buyers ask
What size cutout does it need?
Wells prints the cutout on the installation instructions shipped with the unit. The warmer body is 13-11/16" x 21-13/16" and mounts from below the counter.
What power does it need?
208/240V single phase. It draws 1240 W at 208V and 1650 W at 240V. It is hard-wired; no cord is supplied.
How does the drain work?
It has a 1/2" female NPT drain nipple at one end. Wells offers drain valve extension kit 20385 to bring the valve handle to the counter front.
Can I run it dry?
Yes. Wells rates it for wet or dry use and recommends wet for best results. Do not switch between wet and dry without letting the well cool to room temperature first.
How do I start it up for wet use?
Wells says to add about 1" of hot tap water before turning the warmer on, then preheat on the highest setting for about 30 minutes with the pan covered. Always hold food in an inset or pan, never directly in the well, and never add water to a dry, hot well.
What pans fit?
One standard 12" x 20" inset pan or fractional pans. Wells adapter tops (20176, 20434, 21615, 21621, 21624) let it hold round 2-1/2, 4, 7 or 11 qt. insets.
What warranty does it have?
Wells lists a 1-year parts and labor warranty, from installation or 18 months from purchase, whichever comes first, serviced by a Wells-authorized agency.
