Questions buyers ask
Natural gas or propane?
Southbend sets the range for one gas at the factory, and the serial plate shows which. Tell us your gas type when ordering. The natural gas total is 384,000 BTU; propane ratings per burner and oven are in the spec table.
What gas hookup does it need?
One 3/4" female NPT connection at the rear, on the left side. Minimum inlet pressure is 7" W.C. for natural gas and 11" W.C. for propane. A flexible hose must be at least 3/4" inside diameter and meet ANSI Z21.69; use a restraining device if the range is on casters.
Does it need electricity?
Southbend's spec sheet lists electrical service only for convection-oven and hybrid models. This model uses standing pilots on the open burners and battery spark ignition for the oven.
How close can it go to a wall?
Because of the charbroiler, Southbend allows installation in noncombustible locations only, with 10" rear and 0" side clearance to noncombustible construction. Install it under a vented hood and check local fire and gas codes.
Will it fit through my door?
The range is 73" wide and 34" deep; the flue riser and shelf ship removed and are reinstalled on site. It ships in a 69" W x 48" D x 74" H crate. Measure every doorway and turn on the delivery path first.
Can I use large stock pots?
The rear grates hold up to a 14" stock pot. Southbend asks that pots 12" or wider stay on the rear burners and never hang over the front rail, which can trap heat and damage the controls.
What does the warranty cover?
Southbend covers defects in parts and labor for 1 year from purchase, serviced by a Southbend Authorized Service Agency. Spark igniters, seals and similar wear parts are limited to 90 days, and damage from improper installation or misuse is not covered.
How should I clean the charbroiler?
Never cover the charbroiler grates with a sheet pan while the burners are on; Southbend states this damages the unit and is not covered under warranty.
