How to read a Henny Penny model number
OFG322.06OF = open fryer · G = gas (E = electric) · 32 = 320 Series · 2 = number of wells · .06 = factory configuration code
| Prefix | Product |
|---|---|
| OFG / OFE | Open fryer, gas / electric |
| OGA / OEA | Open fryer with automatic basket lifts, gas / electric |
| 32x / 34x / 51x | 320 Series (65 lb vats) / 340 large capacity (80–90 lb vats) / F5 (30 lb vats) |
| PFG / PFE | Pressure fryer, gas / electric (500 and 600 = 4-head, 690 = 8-head) |
| FPE / FPG / FSEN | FlexFusion Platinum electric / gas combi oven, SpaceSaver Plus combi |
| HHC / MPC | Heated holding cabinet / countertop modular holding cabinet |
The digits after the dot are a factory configuration code (for example gas type, voltage or control). Henny Penny does not publish a key for them, so each product page lists what we can confirm and asks you to call when a detail depends on the code.
Prefix meanings are read from Henny Penny model names and data sheets.
Who makes Henny Penny?

Is Henny Penny a good brand?
Henny Penny is a premium fryer brand built for high-volume chicken and fry programs. Its open and pressure fryers come with built-in oil filtration, and the fryer warranty adds up to 7 years of fry pot coverage on top of 2 years of parts, which matters because the fry pot is the most expensive part to replace.
The trade-offs: prices are higher than value fryer brands, labor is covered for 1 year, the warranty depends on online registration within 10 days, and many models are built to order with configuration codes, so confirm voltage or gas type and controls before you buy.

Henny Penny FAQ
Who makes Henny Penny fryers?
Henny Penny fryers, combi ovens and holding cabinets are made by Henny Penny Corporation of Eaton, Ohio. The company is best known for open and pressure fryers with built-in oil filtration and Computron controls, and its FlexFusion line covers combi ovens.
What warranty does Henny Penny equipment have?
According to Henny Penny's May 2024 limited warranty (FM08-356E), new equipment parts are covered for 2 years and labor with up to 200 miles of travel for 1 year from installation. Fry pots get up to 7 years from manufacture, baskets 90 days. Lamps, fuses, O-rings and gaskets are not covered.
Do I need to register my Henny Penny fryer?
Yes. Henny Penny's warranty document says the equipment must be registered online within 10 days of installation, or the warranty will not be honored. Register as soon as the unit is installed and keep the serial number and invoice. We can send you the order details you need.
Pressure fryer or open fryer: which do I need?
Pressure fryers such as the PFE 500 and PFG 600 cook bone-in chicken faster at lower oil temperatures and keep it moist, which is why chicken programs use them. Open fryers like the OFG and OFE 320 Series handle fries, tenders and breaded items. Many chicken restaurants run both.
Should I choose gas or electric?
Choose by the utilities at your site. Gas OFG and OGA fryers need a gas line sized for their BTU rating plus a 120V outlet for the controls. Electric OFE and OEA fryers need 3-phase power and a separate connection for each well. Check the data sheet on each product and have your installer confirm the hookups.
What is the difference between Computron 1000 and 8000?
Both are Henny Penny digital fryer controls. The Computron 8000 stores programmed cook cycles for different products, which helps keep results the same across shifts. The Computron 1000 is the simpler control offered on many of the same fryers. The control is named on each product page.
Are Henny Penny fryers ENERGY STAR certified?
Many are. The ENERGY STAR database lists 29 Henny Penny fryer entries, including the OFE and OGA 320 Series, the OFG 320 Series and the F5 OFG 511 to 514, plus six FlexFusion combi ovens. Check that your exact model is listed before you apply for a utility rebate.
